Activated charcoal – ( Food Grade , Pharmaceutical Grade)

The manufacture of activated charcoal makes it extremely absorbent, allowing it to bind to molecules, ions, or atoms and remove them from dissolved substances.

Making activated charcoal involves heating carbon-rich materials, such as wood, peat, coconut shells, or sawdust, to very high temperatures.

This “activation” process strips the charcoal of previously absorbed molecules and frees up bonding sites again. This process also reduces the size of the pores in the charcoal and makes more holes in each molecule, increasing its overall surface area.

As a result, one teaspoon of activated charcoal has about the same surface area as a football field.

Uses:
Poisoning
–  Activated charcoal has been used as an emergency anti-poison treatment since the early 1800s. That’s because it can bind to a wide variety of drugs, reducing their effects, both prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications like aspirin, acetaminophen, and sedatives.

Teeth Whitening
-It is also useful as a teeth whitener. Brushing the teeth with activated charcoal power twice a week can help whitening the teeth stained from long-term consumption of tea, coffee, or wine.

Water Filtration
-The traditional application of activated charcoal as a water cleanser is still relevant today. Fluoride and other heavy metals are effectively removed with the help of activated charcoal filters. However, it is not useful for removal of viruses and bacteria from water.

Gas & Bloating
-Activated charcoal is created by heating common charcoal to make it more porous. The extra spaces in the charcoal trap gas molecules, reducing the gas that causes bloating.

Insect Sting
-Activated charcoal can help treat bee stings by drawing out venom and reducing swelling and itching:
Apply a paste: Mix a small amount of activated charcoal powder with water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the sting and cover with a bandage. Leave it on for about an hour and repeat if needed

Desserts / Food
-To use charcoal in desserts, you typically add a small amount of  food grade activated charcoal powder to your batter or mixture, which gives the final product a black color while minimally impacting the taste; commonly used in desserts like ice cream, cakes, cookies, and even chocolate fillings, allowing for a visually striking black aesthetic.
